The situation whereby search and rescue helicopter pilots at three Coastguard units ar
ound the country could not fly due to an issue over maximum permitted hours has been resolved.

PRESS: BALPA ASKS GOVERNMENT TO INVESTIGATE XL COLLAPSE
The British Airline Pilots' Association (BALPA) has written to Ruth Kelly, Transport Secretary, to ask her to set up an enquiry into the collapse of airline and holiday group XL.
PRESS: BRITISH AND SPANISH PILOTS PLAN FUTURE
Representatives of BALPA and SEPLA, the unions representing pilots in British Airways and Iberia, have signed a bilateral agreement in anticipation of the proposed merger between Iberia and British Airways.
PRESS: AIRLINE PILOTS TO TAKE UK GOVERNMENT TO ILO
Jim McAuslan, General Secretary of the British Airline Pilots' Association (BALPA) told the Trades Union Congress at Brighton that BALPA is to lay a case against the British Government at the International Labour Organisation (ILO) because the Government has done nothing to clarify the law on strike action following a controversial decision by the European Court.
CAMPAIGNS: AVIATION AND THE ENVIRONMENT - THE PILOTS' PERSPECTIVE
The British Air Line Pilots' Association has produced a major report that puts into perspective the real impact of Aviation on the Environment. This is part of a BALPA campaign to inject practical solutions into what is becoming a polarised debate.
SECURITY: REPORTING INCIDENTS AT SECURITY
BALPA members are an essential link in the security chain. It is vital that incidents are reported; otherwise the Department for Transport and CAA will assume there are no problems. We have a number of security incident report forms for download; please use them in addition to submitting an MOR, and sending a copy to the BALPA Security Committee at BALPA, via the Flight Safety & Security Officer (davidreynolds@balpa.org).
